Storms are followed by Breakthrough

In my Spiritual walk, I have noticed that the times I get attacked – where I go through a stretching, or outside influences that want to take me down, are followed by times of great strides forward. This Biblical pattern moves us forward, as we are tested to see how we will weather the storms. God’s goal is to give us and bless us with the most He can, but we have to be developed and refined in order to handle the blessings, so we don’t blow ourselves up with things like pride and ego.

The tests of life tenderize our hearts, if we choose to allow them and we are tested with things like forgiveness, humility, and love in ways we never thought we’d be able to achieve. When we face these times where it seems hopeless, if we decide to press into our Maker and allow Him to come close, we discover who we really are and He pours out His strength so that we can continue on. We literally develop a dependence and an abiding that no other force on earth can build us the way our Father in Heaven builds us up, and through His Son, Jesus Christ, we discover a relationship we never thought we could have.

This door of obstacles is how we can open the realm of the supernatural, and have God encounters we never thought or even dreamed were possible. The Kingdom – righteousness (think of a right standing with God), peace (the kind that comes and hovers over us with ministering angels in our midst and an atmosphere that is intoxicating because it is Heaven coming down to Earth), and joy (inner life where no matter what is assailing the outer life we reside in – we are within, abiding with our Maker and King).

Through this journey, we learn to stand, withstand, and take territory in our lives, and our character growth begins to look more like our Father, and people – the ones that are looking for God – are attracted to us in ways they don’t understand. The inside is where the journey is, to form us to become people that look more and more like Him – in His image. I have discovered if I rise up to the occassion, past the lower ground – where the personal attacks are, and get up to heaven, where His presence is, and use the words that He says about me – and I say these out loud, I am able to continue on and press in, and receive the peace that is my reward as I go further to get closer to Him.

The one phrase that I say out loud when I face these times of trials is – Jesus, show me where forward is, I’m not turning back. You see, my commitment to Him breaks whatever tries to hold me down. As I surrender, He grows louder. I hang onto my Word and read Scriptures about what I’m facing. I DO NOT listen to the world. I DO NOT listen to my own pain. I LISTEN TO HIM.

And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.  Galatians 6:9

I am the head and not the tail. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. God is for me and not against me. These are the things that give Him glory and I am seated in heavenly places as I go through these trials. Some days it’s full of glory. Other days, it’s filled with struggle. However, He hasn’t moved in my storm, but gets ready to pour out blessings my way. He is able to do exceeding, abundantly more than I can think or ask …How does He does this? according to the POWER that works in me. Ephesians 3:20.

I learn how to go through trials, and then, He pours out blessings. I surrender my will over to His will, and not get out ahead of Him, but listen and abide with a sensitivity that learns how to know what pleases Him. When I find that place – the place that is pleasing to Him – I can rest on Him, I can literally lay my head down on His chest, and be at peace whether we are going through a storm or whether we are sailing above clouds of glory. He teaches me that He is everywhere I am, and that I can totally trust Him no matter what.

It’s been a week of walking through things…yet, the Lord was right there with me through it…tests assail us but if we are walking, it’s not time to take pictures. I want to remember what God did this week…brought … Continue reading

Without Faith it’s Impossible to Please Him

Sometimes, it can seem totally hopeless. What we see before us – if we are looking at it will make us want to head right out of this place and say, “Come Lord Jesus!” I could make a big long list of all the pain I’m feeling…or I can get before the Lord and give Him my tears, and press as hard as I can into His mercy and grace for me, that is new each and every day.  He gives me the strength I need to carry on. He gives me the hope that I shouldn’t be walking in, because He is the one I place my trust in.  I remember hearing a wonderful missionary speak about how her husband was murdered on the streets of a South American town where they lived, and she had to choose to forgive the ones that killed him.  She was the one I choose to listen to and follow, her message of love – that no matter what someone has done, no matter what they say about me, no matter what attacks attempt to assail me, I choose to press past them to the place where I discover the LOVE of Christ – and I pull down that LOVE from heaven and give it out freely to others.  It’s only hard when I get my focus off of the one who brought LOVE into the earth, and died to give it to me, to bring restoration back to my weary heart. Remember that God is love.

Hebrews 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

This Russian Sage is a plant I love – it is able to go withstand temps up to -20 degrees in winter. Sometimes, we have to be able to withstand, too – and if our roots run deep, we can withstand whatever assails us and ask the Lord to take us higher, where we are seated with Him.

Prayer is an essential part of a believer’s life. I am so thankful the Lord gave us the ability to reach up to heaven with our hearts and engage in the relationship with Him.  Psalms 24 states that who can ascend the hill of the Lord? or who will stand in His holy place? He that hath clean hands and a pure heart: who hath not lifted his soul up to vanity nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. Psalms 24:3-5
