One day, while I was driving the Lord whispered to me that there is no such thing as coincidence. None. I considered it as I drove through tree-lined streets that make up Nashville. I have considered it many times since. If there are no coincidences in life, then, we can relax. God’s got it all handled but it doesn’t mean that we don’t have choices. We have free will but God already knows what we’ll do. Having no coincidences means there are no accidents that heaven didn’t account for. Everything is lined up. With free will, you can take those lined up things and make a different choice, and God already knew that you’d be there, doing that, so He already had a plan for your life with that choice as well. Multiply those choices, and the billions of people that have occupied time, and we can see just how big, vast, and amazing God is.
Of course, God doesn’t want you to be stupid. He wants you to make good choices. The enemy will come at your greatest point of trials in life, and try and get you to make the wrong choice, but we can use God’s word to defeat him. That’s what Jesus did. So, it’s important for us to know and understand God’s word so that we can defend ourselves at the stupid and not-so-stupid times in our lives.
When I became a believer in Christ, and studied His word, wonderful things began happening in my life. To the average eye they could be sized up as a coincidence but they were ways that God was showing me He was involved with everything that happened to me. To give you an example, recently I mentioned a friend from my childhood and a few days later, after no contact for 30 years, she found me on Facebook and told me she had a vision of me when she was in a hospital during a heart attack.
Supernatural occurrences happen all the time. It’s how God speaks to us, and if we press into him, and into more of the kingdom, He will send heaven down and a heaven lifestyle is what we will operate inside of. Living supernaturally is what God made us for. I have had times where God has sent me information to help when a death is going to occur in order to help prepare someone, as well as instruct them that they will need to sing at the funeral. I’ve had dreams where God showed me people who wanted to work with me were dogs and then, instructed me not to work with them. When I went to a meeting to see, God was right, the guys were not people I wanted to get involved with.
As I press into the kingdom of God with more and more of myself, these levels of protection, direction, comfort and forewarning increase. They aren’t coincidences – happenstance accidents - they are God. This harmonious way of living creates a lifestyle of expectation, where we can look to God to fulfill our needs, and desires, and not us chasing after things of our own accord. We can rest inside our lives and allow God to put together the things that we want. It doesn’t mean that we don’t go out and step out in faith to see what will happen. We find the balance in pursuing life to its fullest, yet we can rest that anything critical and important to our lives, God will lead us to.
If there is no coincidence, then, there is a reason for everything that goes on in our lives. We have the free will to pursue God, help others, and become what we were destined to become. Just remember, there are no coincidences, no things that occur in life that are by accident. God already knew and He is right there with you, good or bad, rain or shine, and wants to walk with
